The Tin Roof, Antigonish
One really interesting thing about our cross canada trip has been the accommodations terry has found for us. We have stayed with dear friends in private homes, stayed in hotels, condos, a cottage and now a b & b called ” the blue tin roof ” . It has been fun and interesting to travel this way and i’m happy we arrive with our crazy feather mattress because there are many different kinds of beds and we find this really helps with our backs and my arthritis to take the edge off of a harder bed.
On the way to antigonish for a couple of days we stopped in mabou,( ” the home of the rankins ” , the sign says) and we actually had lunch in the pub owned by the family. We have always loved all of the music from the rankin family and seen them perform live several times so this was really cool for me/us. And the lunch was really tasty too ( homemade bean and garlic soup and irish soda bread).
Continuing on we arrived at our nice b & b and vic, the owner showed us his immaculate, beautifully designed home filled with reclaimed wood ( beams, stairs, etc.) And stainless steel kitchen warmed up with bins of chopped wood and tea/coffee at the ready. We have a ground floor room with private patio overlooking a vista filled with trees in their fall finery.
Vic encouraged us to catch the last of the evening light so we snapped photos of the george cove lighthouse , an old barn on the way to town, and other interesting things before finding ourselves enjoying a delicious townhouse pub dinner recommended by vic.
Our room is beautifully decorated and comfortable so when we arrived back after a long, curvy drive in the dark we were happy to just have an early night and to watch the last episode of ” designated survivor ” on terry’s laptop .
