A Calgary Visit
Terry had a work meeting in Calgary so I took the opportunity to meet up with a couple of my wonderful girlfriends there.
On the way Terry discovered a “BIG” spoon so of course we had to take a photo of it!
When we arrived in town we found a Craft Beer restaurant on 4th called South Block and we shared a rib dinner and I even tried a raspberry beer. ( Nope. Not for me…ha ha)
The Blackfoot Inn was comfortable and I had a light breakfast by myself that morning as Terry was already off.
I then drove across town to visit with Marie whom I have always called “Mother” since she took care of me years ago when I was in a wheelchair and Terry worked out of town. The children had 2 ‘mothers’ !
I hadn’t been to her house in years so she gave me a tour and I finally got to meet her new bestie, “Ollie”.
Funny story about that painting below. I did that watercolour years ago as a surprise for Marie. I met her in a children’s theatre company called “M & M For Kids” and I portrayed Marie and I as characters we had played. “Paul”, “Heather”, and Terry are also in the painting. The friend I was about to visit after Marie was in it too …..but what I didn’t know is that Claudia and Marie did not know each other! Ha ha ha. I remember her saying,”Who the heck is THAT?” Oh well. I told her it’s the friend she’d yet to meet!
After a wonderful salad lunch at a nearby pub it was time to drive back downtown to meet up with Claudia.
I met both women in the theatre and in fact, Terry and I were in our very first Calgary play with her!
She has been through a lot in life and had lived in Canada, Mexico, and England …..working as an actress/singer/teacher. She now is back in Calgary and lives in a pretty condo in Kensington area.
We enjoyed our afternoon visit and soon Terry joined us for snacks and excellent conversation. I loved the champagne, I DO…..I mean ….I DID!
That evening we enjoyed dinner at a nearby Italian restaurant and after dinner it was time for us to drive home. We arrived back late but safe and sound.
I’m so grateful that I have so many great friends!
