Snorkel Day and a Pizza Night
For J’s family’s last full day in town they decided to have a snorkel day.
We told them about our favourite Kona snorkel beach called Kahalu’u which just happened to be down the road from our rentals.
It was a perfect, sunny and hot day (we heard it was -40 in Edmonton!) and they were lucky to find the gear they needed right in their rental house!
The family had a great time and Terry and I enjoyed watching the gang and then hanging out with the older boys while mum and dad took turns snorkelling on their own.
We went our separate ways for lunch but reconvened at about 4 p.m. so that J and S could go on a date night.
We decided to take our 3 grandsons out for a pizza night in town.
But first we played a round of Jenga with the grandsons out on the deck. The boys then wanted to build locations for “Gnomie”. Do you remember when people used to ‘borrow’ garden gnomes from neighbours and take the statues on vacations with them? Afterwards they would return the gnomes with a bag of photos from their travels. Well when I received a wee gnome one year in my Christmas stocking I decided to take him on vacations with me!
When the boys discovered this they wanted to take photos with ‘Gnomie’ so I let them take the photos you see below.
Then after J and S left for their date night we took the boys out for our favourite Kona pizza at the outdoor volleyball court.
They had so much fun running around after and also enjoyed their drumsticks (icecream). We left just as a few drops of rain came in and we got back just in time to bring in all the drying clothes outside on the deck before the rain poured down.
The grandsons were so good and soon we had everyone cleaned up and ready for their story time in bed. What we didn’t expect was for J and S to return so early. Apparently, they started their beautiful dinner date in torrential winds and then the rain poured down on all the guests at the outdoor venue. Too bad! So they returned home for some leftovers and we said good night until the next morning when we would come over to watch the children and take all of their leftover groceries since they were to fly out at 3.
It’s been a wonderful week with our son and his family in Hawaii. A special week indeed.
