Beach Day and a Luau!

Last year when we came to Hapuna Beach we both thought that if we ever met up with family in Hawaii that we would love to take them to this fairly secluded area for a day. Unlike the main beach, the Wailea section was closer to the water, shadier, less populated and had lots of wonderful areas to explore.

We had the most wonderful day that started at about 10:30 am when we met up and emptied out our cars that held all of our beach gear and picnics for the day.

J and the boys tried their hand at boogie boarding, S went for walks and a dip in the big waves, and Grandpa helped the boys build sandcastles. I did well to find a spot to watch, take photos, and read- as my knee was still very painful. It certainly didn’t stop me from having a great day though.

Then, that evening, after we’d all cleaned up and reconvened at the Royal Kona Hotel, we took our family to a Luau. ( We had actually been booked for the previous evening but luckily rebooked when we found out about the torrential storm coming in. We were surprised to hear that the Luau still went ahead!)

But we were blessed to go the next night when the weather was perfect , the food very tasty, and the show SO much fun. I got a kick out of watching the wee ones enjoying the hula dancing and fire show too. So well behaved and lovely to be with.

One day left with our family here. Looking forward to meeting up with them again tomorrow…..
