Sassy G’s
So happy to have our next Vancouver family with us!
It’s been a wonderful first week and one of the things we planned was a trip out to “Sassy G’s” farm out in Spruce Grove.
I got the idea from my friend, Louise, and it was a great place for the ages of our boys ( 6 and 8). There were so many things to do and see that we actually didn’t get to them all!
We started off with ‘saying hello’ to all sorts of wonderful animals. Most of the enclosures asked us not to ‘feed our fingers to the animals’ but our boys enjoyed feeding some cute goats in a more open space. I loved the crazy emu I met that day.
It just happened to be a blisteringly hot day and most of the animals were like us : trying to find a bit of shade with very little to be had! But after we passed the animal viewing section of the farm the adventures truly started happening.
The boys spent some time jumping on the biggest ‘bouncy hill’ I’ve ever seen before and they had fun at the playground which included many different play houses, climbing walls, and places to build with blocks. Soon it was time for lunch and I thought it was great that we were able to enjoy our picnic under the shade of an umbrella over our table. There were lots of picnic tables with umbrellas and you needed it because there wasn’t lots of shade.
The further we went into the farm the more there was to play and do. The boys enjoyed the water pump duckies game and the coloured path .
Our guys enjoyed playing with attached slingshots (trying to hit the bells and other metal things), throwing various balls into the correct cutouts, bean bag tosses, playing with big bubbles, bouncy toys, obstacle courses, pretend calf roping, big “Plinko”, “Survivor” type game boards and SO much more!
It was a wonderful day at the adventure farm which concluded with ice cream treats which we all needed after walking around in that 30 degree weather. Yowza!
The boys were angels and we arrived home to a happy reunion with the littlest brother …..but if you can believe it we stopped for groceries on the way home so “Papa” and the boys could try their hand at making 2 original ‘upside down’ cakes for our dessert that night!
They were delicious and we enjoyed them after our outdoor burger dinner in the backyard with our daughter Emily and the rest of our visiting family.
Perfect day.
