All Saints and All Souls
I like that poster. They must bow to Him who conquered death.
We are all headed ‘home’ someday. Most of us know someone who has died and gone before us and we miss them so.
I miss my grandparents, Annie and Ernie, and my Nonny and Uncle Peter from England. I miss my Uncle Gene and Uncle Neil and friend, D’Arcy.
I have about 40 people (friends ( and friends of friends ….and relatives) , souls I pray for daily, in the hopes that they will reach Heaven soon …if they aren’t already there.
Did you know that November 1st was All Saints Day? Did you know that you can ask the saints to intercede for you and bring your prayer requests to God? Did you know that you can pray for those you love who have died ? You can pray that they, themselves reach Heaven quickly and you can pray to them to help you if you are in need or know of someone in need.
And the next day, November 2nd, is All Souls Day. This is another day to remember our beloved ones who have died.
Many All Souls' Day traditions are associated with popular notions about purgatory. Bell tolling is meant to comfort those being cleansed. Lighting candles serves to kindle a light for the poor souls languishing in the darkness. Soul cakes are given to children coming to sing or pray for the dead , giving rise to the traditions of "going souling" and the baking of special types of bread or cakes. (Wikipedia)
Let’s join together and say a silent prayer in our hearts for those we love who are no longer with us here in this life …but those we hope to see again ….in the next.
