Day 1 Rehearsals

After a good night’s sleep at The Rosebud Country Inn, B.J. served us a delicious breakfast. Terry and I have started a restricted diet (after all….we have a daughter getting married in November!) and we even brought our own cooler filled with healthy foods that fit into our ‘quick start food plan’ through our dietician at Telus Health Care.

We started rehearsals bright and early at 9 am with rehearsal pianist and Luke, the music director ready to put folks through their paces.

Above you can see our rehearsal space, the Rosebud Church, Terry with the director, Morris, some of the cast reading the script and a part of one ‘score’.

I have to say it : I was thrilled to hear Terry’s music performed professionally. So far the casting is really good and the singers are SO good. The musical director, Luke, is incredible! He not only worked out every single song into sheet music with Terry this past couple of months but he can sing any note that any person in the cast can sing. Yes, even the highest note of any woman. Woah! He kept track of the minutes that he spent with each singer so that we remained on time all day too.

I was not the only one who was emotional either…. One of the cast members who plays “ Mueller” was having difficulty singing the song about his little girl (“Joanie”) because it was so close to Father’s Day.

The whole experience brought back memories of my own music rehearsals with past musicals I was in like Company, Chicago and Cabaret…. hey…..I must like shows that start with “C” …ha ha

We took breaks morning and afternoon and had lunch back at B.J.’s . We brought it from home and it was great.

Terry took lots of notes and once in a while he called out a change that needed changing in one song or another.

I took a break and went for a walk and did my rosary.

It was gorgeous outside with those voluminous clouds and hot sun.

The Canada Council For The Arts Grant is paying for the actor/singers and even our dinner (pizza and veggies!)

It was a long day, not gonna lie ( 9 am to 9 pm) but it was very exciting and such an honour too.

Proud of my guy.
