Autumn Splendor
Colour.
We all need a little colour in our lives.
Soon, in my part of the world, things will look monochromatic.
Let’s take time to look around us this fall. Before the temperature drops so much that leaves lose their brilliance.
Before the wind does its best to send them on their final journey down, down.
Down.
Look for the sun to turn on the highlights . Let’s notice the stunning fire bushes , the fire engine red maples, or the white barked aspens shaking their yellow leaves like cheerleaders with pom poms.
Let us appreciate the beauty all around us despite reports that our world can be an ugly place.
Press a pretty leaf in the page of your book. Do you remember doing that as a child?
Do the same with some wee flowers and you could then take these and press them between panes of framed glass to hang on your window to remind you of this beauty in the frigid winter months ahead of us.
The malls want us to skip autumn and go right to Christmas. (They were tempting us before Thanksgiving or even Hallowe’en once again.)
But I say let’s enjoy this day, this moment.
Breathe.
Give thanks.
