Street Performers
It was a blisteringly hot day when we took two of our grandsons to their first “Edmonton Street Performers Festival”.
They are SO cute and when they saw the ‘statue’ move they were a bit startled. When we mentioned to the younger boy that if you put money in the jar the statue will move, he was very keen but also very surprised when his $5.00 got the cowboy actually off of his pedestal to give him a double ‘high five’. ha ha.
We came upon a sort of a ‘Promise Igloo’ where one could paint a flag and add it to the structure. The boys had fun creating their flags and stood proudly by their works.
There is so much colour everywhere you look and it was fun to see our friend, Trevor, there with Davina Stewart, both wonderful writer/director/actors in our city.
The boys were amazed at the first act which was done with ‘silks’. The crowds were back to pre-Covid days but we didn’t feel that we were too close to others. Our little ones were so excited to run over with money for the hats at the end of each show too.
Of course there were some treats in between acts like a snow cone and mini donuts and we brought our UV protection golf umbrella so that if we didn’t have shade we could create our own.
Terry hauled around a lawn chair in a bag for me so that I could sit (as I can’t get onto or off of the ground) and we all had our water bottles and hats. I had fun posing our older guy for the above photo and I love the man we met from South Africa who let me take his photo. Doesn’t he look great?
It was a wonderful day with our older guys and happy we had this fun event to attend while they’re visiting with us.
