Find The Good People

The following is a posting by Jann Arden. I thought it was worth sharing. Enjoy…..

Human life is not for the faint of heart. The road we walk has so many twists and turns and inclines and drop offs-, it's littered with days and months and years of inclement weather and distractions and disappointments. It's not easy, but it's what this life is. Ask ANY animal wandering the planet at ANY time in history. It's hard being a living thing. BUT WE HUMANS...HAVE ART!

All these hardships are why the happy days seem all the more delightful and surreal. It is because the happy days are so special and so rare. The word 'carefree' comes to mind. When was the last time you experienced a 'carefree' day? A day when there was absolutely nothing to worry about, nothing pinching your brows together, nothing waking you up at 4 am babbling nonsense.

I will tell you this, nothing lasts in this world and that includes the bad things, the sad things and the hard things. They shift like sand along the shoreline.

Human beings were built for change. It is what we excel at. We are experts at adapting and adjusting and acclimating. We are resilient and steadfast. We have survived horrific events for thousands of years simply because of this- we learned to work together. We learned that if we looked after each other, the burden would be lighter and easier to carry.

We shared the work and the food and the grief and the doubt and the pain of being human.

(We also murdered each other) but that tale is for another day. We don't always get it right, but when we do, it is glorious. It's like having the sun in your coat pocket on a cold day.

There is much talk of kindness in these troubled times, much talk of forgiveness and tolerance and understanding, but are we really, truly, being any of these things? I was sitting at a red light in my car and it dawned on me, how tense I was, how wound up and anxious and, well, scared of the general state of things. I had to take a deep breath and remind myself, that all of these unsteady, unwanted things, would subside- and they will and they do. We are a lot of things, but we are NOT static. We always move, we always adapt and in doing so, we get smarter and bolder and braver and more understanding.

There are so many good people.

There are so many helpful, authentic, lovely people.

They are easy to spot. They're always the ones helping other people. They are always the ones showing compassion and reason and mercy. They are always the ones with an even hand, extended outward, lifting us all up.

The best is yet to come.

And the worst is yet to come.

This is human life.

Being good hearted throughout it all, will give you plenty of happy days, because you'll be with the people that help you and lift you up. Your friends, are your treasure. Find the good people.
