Banding Together #Throwback Thursday
I was looking for photos the other day and I came across some ‘blast from the past’ images.
Although I grew up in a musical family and I have played guitar since I was a child, I was surprised that I ended up singing in bands.
Above you will see my first band called “Escapade”. We had fun costumes ( We had the pink ones made!)
I remember with the second photo I was needing a hip replacement and I walked with a cane. When the host at the event called us up on stage we were supposed to run over and climb up the stairs to perform.
Marie and Joanne took off jogging over and I was falling so far behind it was funny. I finally hobbled up the stairs and away we went. Ha Ha.
Life carried on after I had my hip operations and I enjoyed raising my four children while continuing on with my acting career and painting.
Then one day, after we moved to Edmonton, one of our girls’ friends called out of the blue and said that the restaurant that she worked at (That’s Amoré) was looking for a band that would cater to the older crowd and she thought of me! HA HA….sad but true.
I was NOT in a band. But the more I thought about it , the more interested I became. So I put together a band , called it “SpiritLine” ,(Thanks for the name Mary East!) and we started performing ‘covers’ every Thursday night.
During the years that work separated Terry and I during the week, I started writing my own music. It kept me happy and busy and besides, I didn’t want to go downstairs to watch our television set as the journey down was too painful.
It seems unreal that I’ve been on three cross Canada Tours with my own music but it has been one of the most uplifting parts of my life!
Above you can see three shots of me performing with my family in Ontario at various concerts.
It’s time to ‘band together’ in more ways than one. Let’s band together in prayer too. Lot to pray for these days.
Peace.
