Rocky Mountain House

Our second day in Rocky Mountain House was relaxing and enjoyable.

We took our time getting ready and after a simple bowl of cereal and packing up a picnic lunch we headed over to the main, check-in building to find some air conditioning and wifi.

It borders on painful to use slow internet when one has been spoiled by high speed internet but I got yesterday’s blog done while Terry patiently had a cup of coffee and read his book.

We toodled around looking at the beautiful canola fields and a pretty deer stopped by to consider crossing the road.

We listened to our audiobook which had an interesting premise (the daughter of a famous, Hollywood couple survives their suicides and her long lost uncle takes her in to his rustic cabin in Alaska with his three sons so she could find healing and love again.) What we didn’t know is that the ‘love’ she found seemed to be in every single male she met ….like some gross Harlequin Romance of sex and near rape in every chapter. Ugh. Bye bye book.

After finding a lone picnic table by the river we stopped for our lunch and were thankful for the slight breeze as we had no shade and it was another 30 degree day.

How to beat the heat?  We went to a movie in an air conditioned theatre of course!

We cannot give ‘Black Widow’ a great review as it was so ridiculously implausible but we had yummy popcorn and cooled down so it was worth it that day…ha ha.

We looked for more photographic opportunities until dusk when we stopped for small ‘Blizzards’ from DQ.

Dinner back in our cabin was turkey chilli that we brought with us and we ended the evening with a couple of games of Tile Rummy.

It was nice to recharge with a couple of restful days and already it’s time to head home.

Peace and safe travels all…….

(to be continued with some final getaway stories…..)
