Practice Makes Perfect

Knowing we are going to be actually staying here for weeks instead of ‘a’ week Terry thought to bring his golf clubs….(one of his favourite past times.)

We also managed to bring some materials in order to paint with watercolours when we get the chance.

But I was lamenting that I couldn’t imagine not practicing my guitar for a month ! Not only am I in the midst of creating my 4th album but I would lose my calluses!

I wrongly assumed that I could rent a guitar at a music store out here like we can at home but…nope….they don’t do that here!

But Terry had a long shot but cool idea that actually panned out. We drove to a pawn shop and bought a guitar with the owners of the shop realizing that we would be returning the guitar at the end of our time here. They made sure we knew that we would not be receiving the full price back and of course we knew that .

There was a pretty decent Ovation guitar there with fairly new strings so I was lucky. No case or strap but that’s o.k. . But I did need to find a capo, pics, and a tuner so off we went to a music store to get me hooked up.

So today, while Terry found a golf course fairly close in which to practice , I tuned up the Ovation and had an all morning practice of my new songs.

Speaking of practicing….our daughter, Lana, sent us a link to her “Super Power” ha ha….The Riot Games(where she works as lead animator) Super Art Power Hour on YouTube.

Lana has been working on her animation skills since she was a young girl in high school. LOTS of practice since then.

We had so much fun watching this master animator at work…..

Lana’s tutorial took us through her process of animating a character from a basic standing position to a full twist, jump, and landing…. in one hour. She gave the animating community lots of tips and tricks and we found it fascinating!

I was also amazed that she was able to clearly and smoothly talk about her work the entire time that she was creating. Loved it!

Getting better at anything takes work but it sure is ‘fun work’ for us!
