Prayin’, Playin’, and a Picnic.
After another early morning ‘whale watching’ from our balcony it was soon time to get ready to sing at St. Michael the Archangel church….with Pam this time!
They were having a special Filipino feast day at mass for Santo Nino .
JANUARY is the feast of the Santo Niño. It is the most recognizable religious image in the Philippines because it is the oldest one in the archipelago dating back to 1521. In every Catholic home, office, chapel, carinderia, tiangge, even beer houses, a statue of the Santo Niño can be found.
That day a group did a special dance before mass and all the Santa Nino statues that people brought in were blessed too. We had fun singing harmonies with Walter’s group again and then after church we went across the street to enjoy breakfast at Kai.
A bit of a walk after mass past some cool rock carvings and some incredible waves before we headed back to the condo to get changed and play some more ‘Wizard’. Pam won again!
Terry soon packed for us a wonderful picnic supper and off we went to the Old Airport Beach Park to enjoy it, the sunset, some reading, and a game of Tile Rummy ….the last few rounds played under the light of Terry’s phone ‘torch’.
The sunset was so beautiful……
Tomorrow we head to Hilo….and Volcano!
