You Don’t See That Everyday !

I think only the last image claims to be the ‘World’s Biggest’ but I had fun posing Terry near these BIG statues lately.

We stopped at the big shovel on the way to Nordegg and here’s what the artist had to say about Edmonton’s BIG socks and shoes……

"Immense Mode" was built in 2009, a pair of clogs and lower legs in striped stockings, erected on-site using 21 tons of bricks. The legs are 20 feet tall, the shoes 13 feet long. Artists Dawn Detarando and Brian McArthur said they wanted people at a bus stop to feel as if they had a big friend.

7,600 bricks were used in its construction. Tired commuters are welcome to sit on the shoes.

We found the large Buffalo in Wainwright, Alberta, on the way to the World’s Biggest Softball in Chauvin, Alberta, near the Saskatchewan border!

We saw all kinds of interesting old farms. And then we saw a dinosaur on the end of a dock. You don’t see that everyday.

We saw about a mile of train cars that looked like a wall and then we also came across a sign that led us to the “Battle River Trestle Bridge” built in 1908! We were just about to leave when an actual train came across the bridge! You don’t see that everyday! (The train actually held us up for a bit at the crossing!)

We stopped in Wainwright and had fun walking down historic main street. We bought a few treats at “Dobbin’s Candy Shop” and enjoyed reading all the placards explaining the history of each building.

We enjoyed the pretty tasty cheeseburger and caesar salad we split at the Park and Trestle Pub and as we were heading back we noticed a funny ‘car table’ . You don’t see that everyday.

We finally made it to the town of Chauvin. Chauvin is a village in east central Alberta, Canada. It is located 60 kilometres east of Wainwright, and 10 kilometres west of the Saskatchewan border. It is also the home of Susie the Softball, the world's largest softball.

It was a gorgeous day and we loved the blue skies and the old buildings. Then we noticed the ‘people’ in the stands at the baseball field. You don’t see that everyday.

During our long 6 hour day driving we enjoyed the fall colours, the old buildings, and the odd things we saw. (I didn’t even think they made phone booths anymore with everyone carrying cell phones these days.) You don’t see those everyday.

It was a very fun trip with beautiful weather too…..and I guess….you don’t see THAT everyday!

A herd of cows ….lying down! You don’t…..well….you get the idea.
