Pool Party

My new friend, Beverly, at Grant MacEwan pool came up with a very fun plan to celebrate our instructor, “Carlos’” 64th birthday.

She purchased reusable water ‘balloons’ and made sure that each one of us had one hidden in our bathing suits during the aquasize class.

While we were working out, Beverly, decorated a couple of long tables and got ready for the post coffee/cake party that she had arranged.

Then, at the end of class she started off of the fun by walloping Carlos with the first balloon to signal we should all ‘fill up’ and throw! You can see (her and) the empty ‘balloons’ above. You just dunk them in water, and they close with wee magnets that are covered in rubber so they won’t hurt. He got pummelled but he gave as good as he got! ha ha.

Besides that fact that “M” made delicious cakes, and Beverly purchased doughnuts and coffee and the theme of the party was brilliant.

Carlos had to open 12 ‘clues/gifts’ and then try to guess the theme. It was eventually revealed that each clue pertained to a line from the Beatles’ song, “When I’m 64.” And she even arranged to have that song playing while we ate!

I feel very blessed to have found this pool group.

We should all feel celebrated when we turn 64!
