Heather
About 38 years ago when we had first moved to Calgary, Ab., Canada, I joined a theatre company called “M & M For Kids”.
This is where I met Heather.
There she is, above, left, just a kid herself and directing theatre for kids.
The people I met back then in that theatre company are still some of my closest friends to this day. ( There we are above: myself, Marie, and Heather Mitchell.)
And now my dear friend lives in “Kits’ and very near to us!
So today I had the pleasure of meeting up with Heather and seeing her new home.
It is beautiful….just like Heather. I love her lovely, white hair and her funky glasses too. We had such a blast chatting and eating the delicious yet simple lunch she prepared for us. We enjoyed butternut squash soup with a lettuce wrapped feta/tomato mixture. Yum!
We didn’t even spend much time reminiscing as she wanted to know details about all of my children and their children. I wanted to know the latest news about her life too! Looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more of each other. YAY!
I have such vivid memories of acting in the children’s shows with Heather as director. And eventually I directed shows. Children and adults loved them and there was always a chase scene, music, great costumes, and tons of laughs.
Another cool thing is that Heather has asked me to illustrate a series of children’s books that she has created. The theme and stories are secret so we’ll let you know when they’re ready someday. I knew this before we flew here so I have all my art supplies at the ready.
Heather works in the movie business now. She is taking a wee sabbatical and she has NEVER done this before. She NEEDS the break. She takes care of the costume department among many other things I’m sure. She is a leader and a friend to many and kind too. She’s capable, adaptable, and SO much fun to be around.
Heather is one of my ‘forever friends’ and I am blessed to know her.
P.S. the little boy in the photo top right is today the man that shocked me recently when he was wearing Terry’s hat and coat that day at the restaurant in Metchosin! That’s Heather’s son, Mackenzie.
