“M” Day
As in the ‘before times’ we are going to take each one of our grandsons ( well, except wee R) for some one on one time with their ‘Nonny and Papa’.
We picked up 6 (almost 7) year old M from school and decided to take him out for an apple pie snack and then his first experience with painting ceramics.
All of the children are just terrific when we have this alone time with them : polite, engaging, funny, and a joy to be around.
We were surprised to find the ceramics shop “ U Paint, I Fire “ was right around the corner from our little house.
M spent some time choosing the pieces as he was going to keep all three after they are fired.
It was surprising how full the small shop was with painters until we realized it is March Break.
M chose a ‘Pikachu’ to paint for himself , a baby dragon popping out of an egg for Nonny, and an orca swimming above a wave for “Papa”.
After the Terry and M brought back the paint and brushes to our little table , we sat quietly for the next couple of hours and worked on our crafts.
We await the fired projects which should take about a week. But that night we took over homemade chicken vegetable soup to M’s family and Terry made grilled cheese sandwiches to go with my soup. It was a fun ending to a lovely day with our boy.
