A Hallowe’en Stagette

Our California girl flew in and was treated to a Hallowe’en Stagette with her twin and her besties.

Our daughter felt so happy to be reunited with her best girlfriends, one of whom flew in from Chicago and one from Winnipeg!

We decided to gift her with a 20 year old bottle of champagne that we had been saving for a special occasion. Our middle son gifted us with the bottle he purchased from Germany when he went there on a school trip! I thought this was a great reason to celebrate. Our daughter’s getting married!

That night Em planned the Hallowe’en scavenger hunt that we have all loved participating in throughout the years. You need drivers because it takes you all throughout the neighbourhoods and you only have a couple of hours to get the whole thing done. There are word scrambles, riddles to solve, tasks to complete, and of course objects to find.

I just cracked up when I saw that the twins decided to dress up as “Lydia” and “BeetleJuice” from the movie of the same name. They looked GREAT!

One of the possible stopovers was at our house! And we were happy to see that all four teams made it over because we wanted to see all our friends and the costumes!

If they made it over to our house ( we were the last stop if the teams still had time to get here) they would have had to solve the word scramble to figure out the secret password (Consummate) and give it to us. We in turn would give them a certificate (Terry made this) which gave them a choice to choose an envelope. The contents of the envelope could either increase the points their team would get (the whole scavenger hunt is based on points and there are prizes at the end for the winners)…..or it could take away points that they already earned.

Much like the game of “Survivor” they could take a chance -or not. Three of the teams took the envelopes and the chance and one team felt they didn’t want to risk their points.

One of the BIGGEST points of the night was if the team was able to find an actual receipt for something. Whomever found the biggest receipt would get something like 50 extra points. We put our real receipts in there for things like payments for our house renovation so somebody would get the points for sure!

Meanwhile, Emily and her bestie and new mum, Katie, were back home cooking up a storm for all the teams that would soon arrive.

The game is a hoot and a lot of the things on the list are open to interpretation so teams argue to try and convince the judges that they fulfilled the mandate for each item…ha ha. ( For example : “An interesting proposal” )

A lot of the items were wedding themed of course. They had a male friend in a wedding dress waiting in a hotel that evening for the teams to find him and propose and get proof of the proposal.

I’ll leave you with some fun decor that they might have seen as they drove through the ‘hood’ that night.

Oops! More photos just came in. The guest of honour won the Scavenger Hunt!
