Chiddingstone

It was pouring with rain when we headed out to the ancient town of Chiddingstone. Chiddingstone Castle is situated in the village of Chiddingstone, near Edenbridge, Kent, England, 35 miles south-southeast of London and in the upper valley of the River Medway.

So of course we had to check out our last castle of the trip before we head over to London, England once again. We were there on October 28th and there were plenty of fun Hallowe’en decorations and one person just left their skeleton dog and a witch just sitting in the car…ha ha.

We sat in our car for a bit until the rain actually stopped and then we first went over to ‘Mary The Virgin’ church across from the post office. Another beautiful old church but well maintained. Then…through the castle gate.

Once the rain had stopped it gave the path to the castle an almost magical look. Unfortunately, the castle was closed that day due to a private event but I love the views we were able to enjoy to and from there.

We took the bumpy sidewalk to the Chiddingstone pub and had a really nice and filling lunch. In fact, we didn’t eat dinner that evening.

But the next day it was time to pack up and head to Leicester Square and our hotel Indigo. First we had a very good breakfast in Tonbridge Wells at the Brunch Café and we found out about “Bubble and Squeak”. This is a fried patty made from carrots, potatoes, cabbage, onion, and garlic.
