Pat and Dewar’s Farm

When I come down to Windsor I love my visit with Pat and Dewar.

The drive out to their Harrow home is such a pleasure with (usually) blue skies and lots of farms to enjoy all the way there.

You can feel yourself unwinding the more back roads you travel down….well….except for that particular day.

I set my phone GPS to their closest home address (Google did not recognize their full address) and all of a sudden it said I had reached my destination and I clearly had not! I couldn’t even call Pat to ask for directions because I had no idea where I was! Luckily I knew I could at least get to Harrow and then I was pretty sure I could find their farm from downtown. But you know good thing I did have a sense of it because “Maps” was still trying to steer me wrong…ha ha.

Anyway, I wasn’t even late so I had a chance to talk with Dewar (who I thought was a gardener because I know he works as a lawyer) and we had a dusty hug and I nice little catch up.

I’ve known P and D since art class in the University of Windsor and Pat choreographed my character “Roxy Hart” in the Canadian premiere of “Chicago”. I was also their maid of honour at their wedding.

They have recently acquired 2 new pups (English setter and Springer Spaniel crosses) and Dewar turned the barn “turret” into a play place for them in their enclosed spot near the barn. He is standing in it in that last photo.

Pat and I had a really nice lunch at one of our favourite Kingsville lunch places, “Jack’s”, lots of stories to catch up on, and then it was time to get her home.

They have a brand new self pick, flower business called “Petal Peddlers” and Pat gathered the most lovely bouquet to give to my mum. She does most of the gardening herself (!) and their daughter now runs the rest of the farm and the equestrian school and boarding horses business.

It’s always delightful to be near my dear friends and this day was no exception.
