Terry Arrives
I’ve had a wonderful time in Windsor so far….as I always do.
But this year has seemed tougher than usual to be apart from my guy.
So when his flights from home got delayed about 4 times due to technical problems in Air Canada between the controllers and the airplanes we wondered just when he would finally get here. He ended up taking a ‘red eye’ flight in and after a 4 hour delay in Toronto we had our delightful but teary reunion on the Saturday morning.
It was a very quick hug ‘hello’ and ‘good-bye’ as he was rushing off to his high school alumni golf tournament for the day. And he made it just in time to step onto the first tee box!
He had a wonderful day despite his exhaustion and his team won the “Spirit” award because of Terry’s efforts to make it to the golf course despite his ‘harrowing’ journey to get there….ha ha.
I had the blessing of spending the day with my ‘bestie’,Barb, but more about that later.
The next day was Sunday and we attended mass at Good Shepherd parish.
I was surprised to see all the beautiful, new stained glass windows there since last year. Wow! SO gorgeous!
We were also surprised that the choir was back (since covid shut it down) and they called us over to sing with them.
May is the month of Mary and there was a nice tribute to her outside the church too.
After mass we picked our my cousin, Doug Hines, and brought him out to brunch with us at Jerry and Jenny’s. Doug has had a tough go of life lately as his mum (my godmother) recently died and he was alone in the world for the first time. He is doing his best to live his ‘new normal’ and it was a pleasure to have him regale us with family stories that morning.
Then it was off to visit our parents that afternoon for more reunion times!
So happy that these visits could happen because health seems one day at a time for our folks at this stage of life. We love being near them and loved our conversations that day too.
