A Wonderful Winter Windsor Week

Leaving our minus 20 weather to arrive and feel rain and see green grass was very refreshing and encouraging for our week away. Mum and Dad are well, loved that they decorated early for us, and they’re still painting, reading, ‘puzzling’, laughing, and enjoying life!

We loved seeing Terry’s Mom in her new home. She looks beautiful and happy and seems to know everyone there! We enjoyed our tour of the assisted living place and it is the best. We even played ‘Wizard’ there with my sister, Pam and husband Dave. Our besties, Barb, Pete, and Denise also made time with us for great visits. Peter is the Poet Laureate of Windsor and he has a new book out! We enjoyed brunch after mass with our niece, Kara, and her family and it was the best to have my sister, Mary, surprise us with her trip home as well!

Pam, Dave came with us to see the new movie, Wicked. We all loved it SO much! Also loved our lunch with my brother, John and our time out to the flower farm to see our dear friends, Pat and Dewar. We’re all artists and Terry and Pat exchanged paintings.

Perhaps the highlight of our week was that Terry got his dream of sharing his musical with both of our families. “Dream” was professionally recorded for us so we watched it as families due to the generosity of our sister-in-law, Lori and her husband, Ted AND my sister, Pamela and her husband, Dave actually rearranged their whole living room to accomodate us all! It seems everybody loved it. BIG news is that “Dream” has been chosen as THE main stage show for Rosebud’s summer season. It will run from June to August. Wow!

During our last day, after checking out of the hotel, Pam, Terry and I all went to Casino Windsor for lunch and a bit of gaming. Pam and I both won some cash on the slot machines so it was even more fun than expected!

We arrived home that night at 4 am and the next morning (!) we had the pleasure of meeting up with our daughter-in-law for lunch at Hap’s with the boys.

Only our girls and their partners are coming home for Christmas. So being with family is even more important. Being apart from our Ontario families has always been difficult. This will be our first Christmas (except for the first year of covid) that we will not have our whole gang home. It will be hard but it will also be so lovely for our sons to have Christmas in their own homes with their own families.

It was an incredible week. I love them all so much.

But always nice to be home too. Now: time to get ready for Christmas!
