Christmas In The Village

My sister, Paula and I were invited out to a really neat event by my friend, Pat, in Pigeon Lake which was called “Christmas in the Village”.

We had a safe drive out despite the falling snow and the frosty trees were so beautiful that it was difficult to take a bad photo.

When we arrived at the Village we got the best parking spot by the door and our room was also closest to the door on the main floor. Phew! (No elevators!)

After check in we hopped on a carriage ride to a wine tasting event. Um. No. No one was ‘hopping on’. Ha ha ha. It took all three ladies to helping up on the miniscule ‘foot pedal’ and then to lift my legs over the tall lip of the carriage. Helen actually crawled in! Getting out was worse but I thanked my ‘team’ and onward to taste yummy wines and by a couple too!

When we arrived back for the evening event we saw about 60 women in hilarious Christmas outfits. Luckily Pat warned (encouraged) us about this so Paula and I purchased sweaters from Amazon. What a joke! When they arrived they were actually skin tight t-shirts….ha ha ha. It was fun to see everyone getting into it though and the charcuterie was beautiful and delicious. We given the basic ideas about what we’d experience the next day ….starting with breakfast in bed! We ended the evening with a BINGO game that was so funny I can barely think about it without cracking up….

The master of ceremonies, Sienna, gave us explicit instructions about each round and even had each game printed out for our assurance of what to do ( eg. 2 lines in one card, or 4 corners on 2 cards, etc.) Well as the evening went on SO many people called BINGO by accident that it was making me cry laughing….including Paula who made the first mistake. HA HA HA. (And every time someone else came up with a false BINGO Sienna took a drink of her wine. She was getting drunk she said . HA! )

The next morning we had a ‘chair yoga’ session and 2 fashion shows. I couldn’t help taking photos of the very high heels they wore.

After a wonderful soup and sandwich lunch at ‘Daisie’s’ with our $25.00 coupon we had more fun back in the main room. It felt like we were on the “Ellen” show because the folks who ran the even were constantly calling out names that were pulled for prizes and sometimes they would show us something ….like a wonderful travel bag or scarf, etc. …..and shout out…” AND YOU ALL GET ONE! “

The theme of the weekend was “German”. We had gift bags waiting for us in our room when we first arrived like a large, freshly made pretzel with mustard, beer, etc. and a hand painted wine glass with a pickle design. We received new gloves, skin care products, gift certs for the stores, spa, and on and on. Wow! We did go shopping and Paula and I bought Christmas presents and a little something for ourselves too.

Then it was time to get ready for the Gala evening where we all dressed up in our Christmas finery. We were encouraged to take photos in the photo booth and we each took one home. I gave Pat my ‘hedgehog” keychain (as she never did win a prize!) and was surprised to hear she collects hedgehog things.

The dinner was amazing and served by firemen!…..check it out!

Everything from the sausage soup to the warm potato salad to the black forest cake was make on the premises. DELICIOUS!

The evening ended with a dance too. Amazing!

The final morning was our “Pajama party” breakfast and craft time.

This was truly a very fun event. I was a bit nervous as the show was starting to fall quite heavily on the day we departed but Paula kept us safe and we had a ton of laughs just remembering more of the funny things that happened.

Thanks again for telling me about this, Pat. Thanks for joining me, sister.

Peace, friends.
