DREAMing of Summer!
Edmontonians have enjoyed such a wonderful, extended fall. Even up to the day we were to drive the four hours to Rosebud the roads were dry and the blue skies lifted spirits.
So it was almost a shock to see big snowflakes falling and a build up of snow on the morning of our road trip.
About an hour into our drive I felt the car wanting to slip off the road and into the ditch off the highway. Yikes! Black ice was under my snow tires. We had just finished praying the rosary where we had asked for our protection and that of all drivers that day so it was a prayer answered when Terry asked me to just take the next exit and head south east. As I made the curve around we both noticed that there were about 50 to who knows how many cars stopped! Clearly they would be there for hours waiting for an accident to be cleared away.
We drove to Wetaskiwin in time for lunch where we found “Mitchel’s Café” a delightful stop with cute decor and great food! AND….when we were finished we walked out to find blue skies and snow already melted on the roads. The rest of the trip was a dream and I had fun taking my usual photos.
The wonderful B.J. greeted us at the door to her Christmassy home and she, her husband, Ken and ourselves enjoyed pieces of homemade pie and coffees. Before you know it, it was time to head to the theatre to see “Christmas On The Air”, an excellent comedic/heartfelt musical.
The buffet dinner at the Mercantile was delicious as always and I can only say that we both thought the production was perfection!
And if THAT weren’t enough, we were SO excited to see Terry’s musical advertised in the program (although our name was misspelled).
Yes, DREAM was chosen for their mainstage for the June, July, August slot….the biggest fundraising timeslot they have! So we are honoured and now need to get the word out to hopefully SELL OUT the shows next summer!
On the way home after our yummy breakfast at the Rosebud Country Inn we were thrilled to find blue skies and dry roads once again.
