T.O. Day One

On our first day in town, we decided to board our very first ‘Tall Ship’ and go for a Toronto tour of the harbour.

Oh man, it felt great to be out on the water on that very hot day. The crew taught some of the passengers how to hoist the sails and soon we were off and enjoying the views.

After the beautiful journey by ship we walked to the harbour to enjoy a light lunch . I noticed the very large (the size of a 2 story building) wooden sculpture that replicates one made of metal at the Rockefeller Centre in New York. We noticed lots of e-bikes for rent everywhere, and I treated myself to a child-size cone with pineapple frozen yogurt.

Before you know it, it was time to change for dinner which we enjoyed in Greek Town. Meze’s made us delicious chicken souvlaki and humus with fresh pitas and then we took an Uber to our evenings entertainment : The play- “Harry Potter and The Cursed Child” .

The pyrotechnics were the star of the show in this fun production. Anything portrayed as ‘magical’ was amazing indeed and there were a lot of wonderful choreographed moments with the dancers in Hogwarts gowns too.

Unfortunately, the show seemed WAY too long with each act about an hour and a half. The director chose to make certain characters yell almost all of their lines and those are the ones we could never understand. The final act seemed so convoluted as to be almost silly. But, again, the flying people, brooms, wand wars, etc. were brilliant (they even had characters swimming on stage!) and many of the audience members chose to dress up in character which was very fun to see too.

After the show, we caught our Uber to take us back to the hotel where we rode up to the top floor to take in the nighttime view.

What a great first day!
