A Welcome Windsor Week Away

Seeing our friends and family in Windsor just once a year just doesn’t seem like enough. None of us are getting any younger and we miss them so.

We made sure that we were right ready for our own guests, (our children and grandchildren who would be arriving the day after we returned home), by decorating our home for Christmas, wrapping our gifts, and sending out cards before we left. Done.

Then we got up at 3:30 am to make sure we got to the airport in time to board at 6 am. zzzzzzzzz

It was a long day. We had a four hour layover in Toronto which didn’t help. But finally arriving in Windsor at 6 pm felt good and our brother-in-law, Dave kindly picked us up and took us over to my mum and dad’s. Home.

Every corner had Christmas finery to enjoy! It’s been years since we’ve been back this close to Christmas so it was a real treat to see it all.

Mum and Dad invited us to dinner and my sister, Mary, made the meal….a delicious chicken casserole with green beans, mashed potatoes, and a fresh, garden salad. Mary just happened to be down from her home in northern Ontario so double treat for us all!

The next morning we met the gang at our favourite “greasy spoon”, Jerry and Jenny’s for breakfast, passed St.Anne’s church on the way back, and met my sister, Pam and hubby, Dave, there. (They very kindly deliver communion to our parents on a regular basis. We also shared communion this day as we all did mass online.

That afternoon, we had a chance to also have a nice visit with Terry’s parents,(we passed an incredible new mural on the way), and then we met up with Pam and Dave and our niece, Alaina later for dinner and then ‘Wizard’ at their home.

It was a full day of visiting and my heart is full too!
