Fr. Tom, Fr. John, and An Evening For Us
We are very blessed to have grown up close to many priests who are GOOD men. Yes, there are a lot of true stories about priests (and other folks who work with children) with terrible proclivities. God forgive them and heal the ones they hurt. We have many many friends who are priests and nuns with our Catholic background and they have helped us to long for God and to cherish our faith journeys.
We had the chance to meet up with 2 of our dear friends in this field. One, Fr. Tom Talentino, we met back in Edmonton at our beloved Marian Center. He is now retired and living in Windsor! We all met up one day and found a fun place to go for coffee/tea called Café Amor and Art. It was a fun Mexican themed restaurant and we had a lovely catch up. Fr. Tom is 86 now and looks great!
We also felt blessed to have our yearly visit with Fr. John Comiskey. This year he came all the way from Grand Bend to visit with us! We met up at “Twiggs” restaurant in Belle River. We couldn’t believe it when my sister Paula from Edmonton was sitting in the same restaurant with her friend, Kim!
One evening we just needed a break from all the visits. Don’t get me wrong….they have been incredibly fun….but it can be exhausting too. When you stay at a hotel you can also get tired of eating out so much but we chose a wonderful Italian restaurant recommended to us by our friend, Pete, it was really good….”Spago’s”
It was a delight to just take our time with dinner with a nice glass of wine (for me), salad, oven fired bread, penne (for me…he had linguini), and cannelloni for dessert with coffees. Very relaxing to just be together the two of us.
The funeral and internment of Terry’s wonderful father, Ed, has also taken a lot out of us and we are worried about his mama too. So glad we have our faith to lean on and the prayers of our dear friends to lift us up from despair.
