A Picnic, A Parson, a Pat and a Paula.
It took us all summer but we finally found the time to go to a nearby park for a barbeque lunch and tile rummy game or two!
The weather suddenly became very chilly this week and we needed our coats but Laurier Park was so pretty with its lush grounds and active wildlife. The White Breasted Nut Hatches were like wee Blue Jays in colour and the squirrels enjoyed all of the acorns on the ground.
The next day we received a surprise text from Terry’s old friend, Debbie Parsons, from his days working in Fort Mac. Deb and Ron hosted us on our first stop on tour (St. John’s, Newfoundland) and they are here because Ron’s mum is getting a hip replacement at the Alex. It was SO cool to see them again in our ‘neck o’ the woods’.
Years and years ago we used to live in Fort McMurray and Terry worked there long before our family got there. He worked with a lovely woman named Debbie Parsons . Deb and Ron hosted a ‘house concert’ for us on our first leg of the eastern Canada “Words on a Page” tour in their home in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Well, they just happened to be in town (Ron’s mum had a hip replacement) and we took them out to the delightful Café Amoré for dinner and back to our home for more chatting, dessert, and coffee. What a joy to see them again!
I had the pleasure of meeting up with my friend, Pat, at one of favourite bake shops in Edmonton, “Duchess”.
We always have great conversations when we’re together (even if this time they were weighted on the side of …”Who has more problems health-wise these days…?” ha ha.). Glad she made the time for me after my aquasize.
That afternoon, I drove to my sister, Paula’s, and we headed out to Camrose. ( Paula is an incredible gardener and I love her poppies in the above photo. )
Our destination was one of our favourite shops called “Rejime” and we both found a couple of articles of clothing that we liked. I am so blessed to have one of my sisters nearby.
On the way home we had a bit of a photography trip….
To be continued…..
