Observations

We noticed quite a few things during our first day in Kona at the VRBO.
We noticed that our host gifted us with a local bag of coffee. Nice!

We also noticed that our place looks a lot better in photographs than in real life! The first thing that happened to me when I went to take a shower is that the towel rack broke when I removed my face cloth. It must have been completely just balanced there . Hmmmm.

The louvered doors all over the place look like they’re ready to fall off too and the dust is everywhere. We took out the vacuum and started cleaning and fixing things! Then the vacuum broke and we had to try and fix it! Everything is very dated and worn except for the nice kitchen counter.

We noticed that our view from our balcony is stunning and unimpeded. Now THAT was a great thing.
We also noticed that some of our favourite ‘haunts’ have now disappeared or closed. Maybe Covid had a hand in that.

But we found a place for breakfast that we’d been to before, “Humpy’s”, and enjoyed our 1st breakfast in town.

Terry kindly did groceries while I attended my beloved “bestie Zoom call” (3 hours earlier for me!) which I always look forward to. We noticed the internet is pretty spotty here so there were lots of ‘freezing’ frames but it was still fun as usual.

Mass came later in the day for us so we decided to attend online with Fr. Rob Galea.

We checked out the pool area ( SO happy to have this) but I noticed that I can’t get out of the pool or hottub without help because the stairs are too deep and the one (!) railing too shallow. Bummer - but I did manage to get my workout in and prayers too! (Terry helped me up out of the water) Also there is very slippery incline in the pool after the bottom step and I’ve seen a few people lose their footing and splash down hard. (One man’s head just barely missed the tiled steps in the pool!)

At dinner time I noticed that two of the four stove top burners were broken when I went to cook our salmon dinner and you would just fall over if you knew how much we had to spend on that grocery earlier! But dinner was yummy and the sunset glorious.

Thank goodness the bed is comfortable. Phew.
