Terry Golfing Day: Cabot Cliffs

Terry fully enjoyed his blustery golf day at cabot cliffs. He chose our cottage( when booking accommodations) by the proximity to the famous course and the ocean view. Our cottage is perfect for 2 with most amenities available ( despite a woefully empty kitchen. I tried to cook ….that must be the problem…ha ha) .

The bed is comfortable and we have a sitting room with table and 3 chairs. The tiny, galley kitchen has 2 burners which are labelled incorrectly , a wee fridge /freezer and a sink. The bathroom has nice , hot water but the tub side is so high that I am terrified of tempting fate again.

While terry met new friends and conquered the winds I headed out to the small town to find some supplies for the cottage and check out what was what. I brought a robin’s coffee back after enjoying a nice, unexpected call from my sister, pamela, in ontario and enjoyed my tiny lunch.

After my meal I bundled up and braved the wind to try and maneuver the steep sandy hill with one rickety railing. I carefully slid my way down and faced the crashing waves and expansive, mostly empty beach. After walking a bit and checking for beach rocks I knew that I might receive the text any minute from terry asking to be picked up. And I didn’t know if I could climb back up .

There just happened to be a couple from germany hunting for beach glass so I took a deep breath and asked them if they had good knees and might be able to ‘shadow’ me up the hill for safety. The man said that he would do one better, grabbed my hand and started pulling me up the hill. His wife was behind me and soon I felt ‘lifted up’ as she said, ‘ and I will push on your ass’… ha ha.

The 3 of us made it up safely and I am very indebted to them both for taking the time and making the effort to ‘haul my ass’ back up to stable ground.

Terry said that his caddy did not seem to know the course super well as he would point in the general direction of the next shot and be very off the mark. What I am guessing is that the caddy didn’t realize that when terry wants a ‘ mark ‘ he can actually hit that exact mark…unlike many golfers who will just hit in that general direction. But terry had a wonderful day on this challenging, world class golf course.

Last night terry and I enjoyed a quiet dinner ( servane’s favourite…sloppy joes…ha ha) and terry took a few trips to the onsite laundry. Clean clothes and one more day of exploring this area to come….
