Happy Hallowe’en, 2022!

It started when I was a child. I just LOVED Hallowe’en. Maybe it was because I loved dressing up and this would translate into my one day becoming a professional actress. I don’t know.

But I do know that I love autumn and pumpkins and I loved the walking down the streets with my friends and siblings , going door to door to look for our treats on October 31st every year. Kicking through the leaves and smelling them as neighbours burnt them in piles too. ( Yup, that happened. )

Above you can see me in a play by “M & M For Kids” as a cat with my friend, Marie.

Our whole family gets into Hallowe’en. Next you see my mother when she came to visit us and even cancer couldn’t stop my sister, Paula, from getting into the spirit as a Star Trek girl! When my sisters come to visit at Hallowe’en we always dress up too.

I love to drive around the neighbourhood to look at all the decorations. They have nothing on us when our children were little though. None of these ‘blow up’ decorations were around.

We would handcraft a yard full of gravestones, a roof-to-ground cobweb, a life-size coffin (that sometimes Terry lay in to scare teens!), creepy music, and of course ghosties flying high.

Our children love Hallowe’en too. In fact, our daughter, Lana’s wedding shower was our famous Hallowe’en scavenger hunt party that she enjoyed last Saturday! Above left you can see how I dressed for the pool as Hallowe’en fell on a Aquatfit day, beside that our family dressing up when I happened to be in Ontario, me as a ‘cartoon’, our young Emily in her “Day of the Dead” outfit, and me as a vampire.

Now our grandchildren and friends are completely into the dressup and treats and it is so fun to see THEM having so much fun.

Happy Haunting, everyone!
