Keys to Happiness
My husband is very musical. He’s WRITTEN a musical!
As we just start this winter journey together here in Alberta I am happy that the sounds of music can always be heard throughout our home.
It might be freezing outside (yup) but inside the tea is on and I can often be found working here in my office to the sounds of Terry playing his guitar or our piano.
Since both of us are singer/songwriters we have to balance the volume and scheduling for rehearsal time when we are apart but in the same house..ha ha.
And it’s not only volume as in how loud but volume as in how much time we play!
I always wanted to take piano lessons but with five children it wasn’t top of the list of how my parents were able to spend their hard earned money. That didn’t stop us though. Every single one of my siblings and I are musical and some of us are IN the music business.
Terry did get to take lessons from a nun at the nearby convent and eventually reached ‘grade 10’ piano and was in grade 8 in school when he stopped. It’s all coming back to him now that we have a nice piano in our home . He sounds great!
I love it when it’s our week for leading the music at church and we work out a song with him on the piano and myself on guitar. SO nice.
And now our young grandson, O, is taking lessons and has great rhythm already! Since the whole gang is coming home for Christmas this year I am hoping for a wee concert from him.
Silence is golden and that is truly a gift as well.
But beautiful music can move a soul and I am blessed to hear some on a daily basis.
