Prairie Garden Date Night
I found out about a cool ‘date night’ idea through a FaceBook commercial. I’d been to Prairie Gardens many times over the years so I know it’s a great place. I’ve been there for a ‘farm to table’ dinner with my sister, Paula. We’ve taken our grandsons there a couple of times to see all the animals, ride the train, and do all the many activities. But an evening for two out in the garden with a delicious meal sounded like a good plan too.
It was the most lovely evening : not to hot/not too cold, and the clouds were gorgeous. A staff member sat us under a pretty apple tree and we were given a ticket to retrieve our ‘mocktail’.
The drinks were delicious but as expected….they soon attracted the dreaded wasps. I think that was the only thing we didn’t like about the event. If we ever go again I would bring some sort of wasp deterrent.
Soon it was time for our ‘fresh from the gardens’ salads and our oven baked pizzas we chose.
The salad was very good and we both agreed that the ‘butcher’s’ pizza was tastier than the perogy pizza I ordered. But both good anyway. Dessert? You bet! Homemade ice-cream! We chose the “Skor”.
The dessert was also good and soon it was time to walk back through the greenhouses to our car for the 45 minute journey home.
