A Wedding Anniversary, A Concert, And A Funeral.
After a lovely tea party with our neighbours one Saturday (The very first neighbours to invite us into their home in this neighbourhood!) we had a Sunday of music!
It was our turn to lead the music at mass that morning ….which went quite well! We went straight from there to the city of Morinville to attend the 50th anniversary of our lovely friends, Jim and Jan Baker. They were actually our very first guest artists for our Front Porch Concerts 5 years ago.
We were treated to a lovely spread of food for lunch and then after lunch we all went into the next room in the Cultural Center for their C.D. Release concert! And, if that isn’t enough work for them for one day….Jan was suffering with her third week of pneumonia! But she wore a mask, took it off to sing, and do you know that she actually did a super job! She normally has a very pure voice but she hit all the notes and I love their new songs.
After the concert, we purchased some CDs, said our good-byes, and buzzed back to get ready for our last Front Porch Concert of the summer season. Our headliner was Braden Gates and he was so fun!
I think we had about 40 people show up and the weather was just perfect. We were in good voice and I was happy with our performance.
Braden Gates is a young man who has fun with the audience and is an incredible guitar player. His music is enjoyable and quirky.
A big thank you to all who were able to take the time to come over and support local talent!
The next day we attended the funeral of one of our dear friends from the Marian Centre, Michael Fagan. Originally from Ireland, with a beautiful spirit, great singing voice, super story teller, and one of the 3 people who started the Food Bank in Edmonton…(!) ….as only one of his accomplishments. Just days away from his 95th. We miss him already. (Even the Bishop came to officiate his funeral mass.)
Neighbours. Wedding anniversary. Music. Funeral. Life : so precious.
