1st Front Porch Concert of the 2024 Summer
It was touch and go once again weather wise to see if the rain would hold off for our concert featuring Olivia Street.
In fact, Terry built the entire stage at about 7 am, then at around 5 pm he set up the entire sound system….only to have the rain move in and the hint was clear : we had to move ALL the gear into the garage.
Oh ya, Terry also anticipated this so he took large drop cloths and covered up all the shelves in the garage so that it would look fairly neat in there just in case.
And as it turned out….our first Front Porch Concert of the summer wasn’t on the front porch at all . It was in our garage…ha ha.
We decided to get dressed up in our Canada Day finest and Terry had only minutes to change as he was ALSO working the entire sound system!
He opened the concert by doing a tribute to his dad by singing “Life Can Be Magic” from his musical about his dad’s life.
Then he sang a beautiful, brand new song that he wrote this week (in between kidney stone bouts of pain!) called “With You”.
Next up, Paula and Albert (with Terry on bass) joined me to sing (and Albert on his keyboard) my song from my first album, WAITING, called “I Knew”. After that we sang and played the first song I ever wrote called “Psalm 71”. I thought they sounded wonderful.
Olivia Street did a combination of her originals and some covers of well known songs. She has a lovely voice, is a fab guitar player and usually plays with her band “King of Foxes”. She leaves to go on tour with her husband in Japan on Tuesday.
The lovely crowd braved the rain and we all had a very enjoyable, cozy experience together. And what a generous crowd they were too. Olivia made over $400. for 45 minutes of work. Thanks friends!
Happy June concert! Happy Canada Day weekend to all!
