Paula, Pastries & Poker

I had a few days in between one family leaving and the other arriving ….so of course I had to fit in several visits….ha ha.

It’s always a good time to be with one of my sisters and it was wonderful to plan spending an entire day with my sister in town, Paula!

We started off at “Hap’s” and had great conversations over breakfast with good coffee.

Then we head west to see where our hearts would take us and we ended up having a day that revolved around….food! Ha ha again.

I pulled over in Spruce Grove when I saw the sign for German pretzels and we both picked up some specialty sweets at this nice take out shop.

Then it was off to Stony Plain to see what we could see and we ended up in “Kick Ass Carmels” which completely deserve the name. Man! They are SO good! We had fun with the owner, Gail, and her sister and lots of laughs just visiting with us 4 sisters for awhile. (She actually invited us to come back later and join them for a beer in town but it was not meant to be…)

Gail told us about other fun shops in town and we both never realised how large the town actually is! I have only ever just stuck to the main street but there are all sorts of fun areas to explore. We ended up enjoying a bit of shopping in “Whimsical” and both of us had so many laughs together all day. Loved it.

My dear friend, Marla, wanted to take me out for my belated birthday so we met up at the “Art of Cake”. Always a wonderful experience to be with Marla (SO much to catch up with…!) and the teahouse/restaurant is wonderful too.

So happy I had an afternoon tea with her and got the chance to hear and share new stories.

And finally, we had the chance to meet up with our old neighbours (who have all moved into new homes and areas!) for a poker night.

Now I don’t love the game (Terry does!) but I love these people. We drove out to Devon , into the countryside for the games night and it was so cool to catch up with all these great friends.

But imagine my surprise when I was the person who actually won poker that night!!!! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

That’s right! I will finally have my name on the trophy again after many years.

And I won ‘the pot’ too. “Shoes for the baby!”
