A Day Trip To Sidney

Terry and I decided to spend Easter Monday with our dear friend, Bev Dye, on Vancouver Island in her city of Sidney (and surrounding areas).

We started the day off with a very early start (6:30 am) and arrived at the ferry terminal by 9 am. I saw an eagle flying above our car and I like the shot I took of the people walking in the glass paned bridge to the ferry.

The journey had us arriving at 11 am at Bev’s apartment and soon we were off to lunch at this lovely restaurant called RIVA that Bev booked for us. I just loved the cozy decor (even the bathroom had real flowers!) and she surprised me with an early birthday dessert! Thanks, Bevie!

We saw lots of wildlife on our walk around the pier, including a cool biker dude, a ‘man’ Bev cuddled up to, sea lions, and tons of beautiful gulls.

It was interesting to watch the ‘crabbers’ ….people fishing for crabs from atop our high pier. They did well too but they threw them back if they were male or too small.

Loved our walk around the beach. The flowers were in full bloom and the people combed the sand for treasures.

We piled in the car for a bit of tour of where Bev volunteers and some of her favourite places. We stopped if we saw something we wanted to photograph. What a fun time it was!

I loved the quaint “Moodyville General Store”, seeing where Bev goes kayaking in Portside, and our final stop at the Emporium for hot drinks and snacks to end off the tour.

It was lovely to catch up with Bev in Sidney but it was time to head back to the ferry for the long ride back to Kitsilano.

Glad the weather was only overcast and not rainy too.
