Golf Season
We’re back home and golf season is in ‘full swing’ if you’ll excuse the pun.
My husband is about to be in several golf tournaments and that is one of his greatest joys.
He also practices regularly, has regular matches, works with a coach, and loves watching golf on television. This guys LOVES golf!
Terry decided that he wanted to get a feel for the layout of his upcoming qualifier for the Senior Men’s Amatuer Tournament so he asked me if I’d like to go on a bit of road trip ( about an hour and a half away) to be with him while he played the course.
Sure! We passed beautiful scenery, some of it marred by the latest Alberta wildfires in this area. Sad.
Shall I say that the Drayton Valley course was a well used, rather rough looking course, but very pretty with lots of water features and red winged blackbirds singing to us all day.
We caught up with “Jim” who invited us to play with him as the course was slow and it did speed things up for us a bit. Jim was the same age as Terry and I really nice fellow too.
Terry and Jim had the same idea in mind: to get the feel for the layout of the course, how the greens ran, how the sand felt, and to take note of all of it for their “tryout” coming up.
Terry practiced with various clubs on the same hole (there was time for this) and wrote down his findings for each hole. Very organized. He is an exceptional golfer I must say (brag) and if he can relax under the pressure he’ll do just fine I’m sure.
The weather was pretty perfect for most of the round (a wee bit of light rain near the end so I’m glad I brought my raincoat) and I spent my time enjoying the golfers and taking photos that you see here in this blog.
Above you can see : Creeping Dogwood, Common Comfrey, a past its prime dandelion, wild roses, and Northern Bedstraw.
It ended up being a really nice day and all the best to the guys on their “audition”.
