Breakfast!
Breakfast is often called 'the most important meal of the day', and for good reason. As the name suggests, breakfast breaks the overnight fasting period. It replenishes your supply of glucose to boost your energy levels and alertness, while also providing other essential nutrients required for good health.
Do you eat breakfast?
Gosh, I LOVE breakfast. Would you believe that except for two photos I took every one of these breakfast shots? HA HA. ( I obviously love taking PHOTOS of my breakfasts too!)
One of my favourite breakfasts is having a boiled egg in one of my antique egg cups. My Dad taught us to love this ‘English’ breakfast with ‘toast soldiers’ and now my grandsons call them “Tap Tap Eggs” due to the fact that you ‘tap’ on the tops of the cooked eggs to remove the cap.
I bought the cute ‘penguin’ gadget above to hard boil several eggs all at once and they won’t crack.
Our own children grew up loving their saturday morning pancakes. Terry would cook up stacks of them and our four little children could pack them away like you wouldn’t believe. “Where do they go?” we would joke.
Usually in the week you can find me having a smoothie many mornings. Terry makes the best ones. He loves avocado toast too for a special treat. I love every kind of egg…..scrambled, fried, quiche, poached, and even omelets if they come with salsa and sour cream.
Sweet breakfasts are my least favourite but if we weren’t being careful with our eating Terry would love to have french toast more often.
Speaking of being careful with our diets….did you know that not eating breakfast can lead to weight gain? This is because your body is already starving all through the night and when you continue to avoid food in the morning, the body starts to crave for sugary and fatty foods. ... There are many studies that have linked obesity to skipping breakfast.
On Sundays we always have bacon and eggs. There is nothing like the smell of bacon cooking …yum!
So tomorrow : have a yogurt. Drink a smoothie. Have a bowl of cereal or fruit or cereal with fruit . Have an egg. But don’t skip breakfast!
