Bubbles

I’ve known “Bubbles” since grade nine.

Not sure where this nickname came from but I think she’s had it since then.

SO happy I usually get to spend most Sunday afternoons “Zooming” with her and my other 2 “besties” but once again I completely enjoyed our girls’ weekend away together and some extra visits after that.

Not only did we enjoy our “Carlos Acutis” day (Miracles of the Eucharist blog) but we had some other fun days as well.

Before we even went on our weekend away to Woodstock we drove to the States to watch a movie our dear friend, Rose, recommended called “Nefarious”. I was nervous about seeing it because the ‘trailers’ made it look super scary and it was about a demon that had taken over a man who was now on death row.

But everyone should see this movie and discuss it. What a powerful exploration into evil verses goodness/God verses the devil in today’s world. SO good. Glad I had the chance to spend the day with Barb in Detroit and then we had a fun meal at Windsor Casino when we got back to Canada. Her treat! Thanks, Bubbles!

When Terry arrived from Edmonton, we hugged (teared up), and then he went straight into an all day golf tournament with his friends from High School.

Bubbles kept me company again since I would have been alone all day. We drove to Kingsville and enjoyed our shopping at Cindy’s, one our favourite stores, “My Cousin’s Closet” , and a nice lunch at The Beach House.

We saw this amazing statue/mannequin outside of a building (which turned out to be a brand new B & B that was going to host musicians singing songs from an opera) and the statue was the advertisement.

Lastly, Bubbles drove me out to Chatham one day after she discovered that there was a new teahouse there. (I must take my sisters here next year!)

Bubbles was surprised to see how beautiful Chatham really is (I’ve been asked often why we go there) with all the lovely heritage type buildings and huge trees. The homes are often large, brick houses with wide porches, ivy covered walls, and turrets too.

We found the teahouse near the old Capital Theatre and discovered it was sharing the space with an antique seller.

High Tea was really nice, quite standard, with a choice of yummy teas and a pretty, 3 tiered tray with finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and of course more sweets!

We enjoyed meeting “Mrs. Bell” and took our time feasting on the delights of the lovely lunch.

Then a quick stop at The Birdie’s Nest where both of us found a couple of nice ‘finds’ at this garden/clothing/jewelry centre.

Funny how we chatted all day, then all the way home and we still never had an uncomfortable moment or are ever at a loss for words. It’s so wonderful to spend time with old friends and Bubbles is just as beautiful as….well…bubbles! Unique, delicate, pretty, one of a kind too.

I’ll miss you, Bubbles!

(But see you soon!)
