Off to Sundre

Sundre is a town in central Alberta, Canada that is surrounded by Mountain View County. It is approximately 100 km northwest of Calgary on the Cowboy Trail in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. Sundre takes its name from a town in Norway, the original home of Nels T. Hagen, the town's first postmaster according to Mr. Google.

After a light breakfast of a yogurt cup and fruit we headed northwest to visit our friends, Barb and Jerry, who live in a mobile home community there for half the year.

Once again we saw gorgeous views as we drove across Alberta to find our friends.

Many cows, horses, and even a deer (above right). And of course the canola is just so stunning with it’s bright yellow/green coat.

In about an hour we arrived at Rosewood where B and J live and boy, do they have a nice set up. Our friends look great too. We used to see each other at the pool at least 3 times a week and I miss them.

The rains held off (we awoke to about a 15 degree drop in temperature!) so we could sit outside their camper home on their brand new deck for a nice visit. I loved the tour inside their home away from home too. They have done such a great job in setting up everything just so …very convenient and attractive too.

While Jerry and I enjoyed our bottled water, Barb made coffees for herself and Terry. We couldn’t resist her delicious homemade coconut cookie either.

Sundre looks to be a fun little town too and I just had to take photos of the local museum and the “Wrangler’s Hotel”. We ended up having a late lunch there and it was great!

You know we love our road trips and this one did not disappoint!

I will do a painting of that old gas station someday…above right.
