Red’s Room Concert!

This past weekend, on Friday night, SPIRITLINE ( aka Laura and Terry Bachynski) performed with a group of talented folks for “Red’s Room” out of Los Angeles.

We’ve done a couple of previous concerts for “Red”, the last one while Terry and I were in the middle of suffering with Covid if you can believe it!

Red has a slogan : “ Praising God One Concert At A Time”… so we felt like we were in good company!

Since the ‘Facebook” live concert was so close to our recent Front Porch Concert I decided to do the same repertoire to save me learning new songs. Terry practiced up some of the Christian songs he’s written and away we went!

Although the concert was out of the States it fell on “Canada Day” for us, so we dutifully wore our red and whites. There were SO many Canada Day things to do in the day all over the city and surrounding cities but because it rained in many places we decided to treat our selves to a movie. We enjoyed the new “Lightyear” animation.

We joined up with folks from Colorado, New York, L.A., and I can’t remember where else, but it is cool to be able to perform with folks from all over the U.S.A..

Terry and I were first up at 8 pm our time and our host, “TJ McCormack”, did a great job of being encouraging and supportive of all the performers who had varying degrees of musical abilities and resumés. “Jesseca”(her mom wanted to name her after “Jesse” in the bible) was new to piano playing and “Nathaniel” had only written one, original song at the point of our show’s airing. “Jun” has his own YouTube channel, and I’ve been playing guitar since grade 6! Even our host played his ukulele at the end of the program!

It was fun going first (getting it over with for the sake of nerves) and then we moved to our living room couch and enjoyed the rest of the concert. We were surprised how long the show went ( sound check at 7:30 and the show ended around 10:30) but we didn’t join the after party because it was time for the Canada Day Fireworks that we can see from our neighbourhood’s escarpment.

It was a long but enjoyable day/way to celebrate our country. I know Canada has made mistakes, but we continue to try and learn from them and I am very proud to call myself a Canadian.

Happy Canada Day indeed.
