Password

Did you ever see the old T.V. show “Password” that premiered 60 years ago?

I always loved that show and it was one of the first word association games in television game show history.

I have always also loved the board game and I’ve been playing the same game that I own that was created in the 60’s (?) since I was a kid. The idea is that you give your partner a one word clue and they have to guess the secret word. If they don’t guess it, the next team does a clue for the same word. The teams have 10 tries to guess the word. You can’t do actions but you can use your voice to assist your clue giving if you want…(like an accent or a sing/song version of your word clue. )

Well, this year my daughter, Lana, gifted me the newest Password board game out there and we have been having a blast playing it with Paula and Albert. SO many laughs and brain drains to try and think of the perfect clue or the perfect answer to the clue.

Allen Ludden (above), second from left.

The original host of the television show, Password, was Allen Ludden, who had previously been well known as the host of the G.E. College Bowl. Two revivals later aired on NBC: Password Plus from 1979 to 1982, and Super Password from 1984 to 1989, followed by a primetime version, Million Dollar Password, on CBS from 2008 to 2009.

You can see my original game version above followed by my new game box.

I have also enjoyed playing this game with my ‘besties’ and we were playing one of the older games or even on Zoom by making up some word clues.

Games, prayers, music….what a nice place to just ‘be’.
