Piano Rehearsal!
I love how my new album is just slowly moving forward as we all find the time in our busy schedules.
The other day I had the pleasure of finally meeting up with my brother-in-law, Albert, who is my incredible piano player.
He has just retired and is possibly busier than ever with his new role as a sub for teachers.
But although he and his bride just returned from a busy time in Banff with the students, they made time for me and a much needed rehearsal .
I first met Albert when we joined the church he attended (and was choir leader) when we first moved to Edmonton over 20 years ago.
Now I am the Music Minister at that church (St. John the Evangelist Catholic) and he and my sister, Paula, his wife, lead the music at a different church (St. Agnes).
We have so much fun together …..and perhaps especially when we play music together. They are both uber talented and I just know that they are once again going to add such beauty to my 4th album
Albert was a music teacher as well in the high school system so he plays like a thousand instruments. And sings.
So he showed me a bass lick that he heard for one of my songs before we got started. Of course it was really great.
Then we spent the next 2 1/2 hours rehearsing the piano sounds we both hear with lots of give and take for ideas. SO fun.
Paula helped us with added ideas for sounds and future players. Can’t wait for you to hear this thing.
