Pysanky is Fun….(And That’s No Yoke!)

The days are going fast. Soon I’ll be off to the west coast to visit with family there so my pysanky times are almost done for another year.

I found a photo of a bunch of Ukrainian eggs and I decided to try one of the images of a ram and a sheep.

Rams are said to be symbols of leadership, strength, dignity, and perseverance.....and stubbornness. They are a popular motif in Ukrainian art.

The sheep symbolizes humility, innocence, boundless love, and fertility. On Easter eggs, the ornament “sheep horns” embodies young shoots of plants.

The bird is the symbol of a human soul (according to beliefs, the soul flies like a bird to the newborn and flies to heaven when a person dies). The bird acts as a “conductor” between heaven and earth; a guard from evil; a symbol of love, loyalty, and harmony.

I’m really happy with this beautiful design . I didn’t do a perfect job but I did try my best.
