New Friends & Good Food
One thing about being in Hawaii when it comes to eating is that you get the best of both worlds: tasty local foods and American comfort foods too.
We have enjoyed our ‘food for the soul’ at St. Michael’s church too.
I’ve enjoyed our masses at the local Catholic church. We’ve made it a practice to attend one week day mass as well as Sunday morning. Last Sunday it was SO full that we actually attended mass outside with speakers delivering us the voices. It was great actually because of still wanting to be safe from Covid. They brought communion to us and we were among the first out of the very packed parking lot!
As well as having some fun conversations with people in our travels here we’ve had some famous people sightings.
We had lunch one day in the same restaurant as Dustin Tavella and his family. He was the recent winner of America’s Got Talent and is a world class magician. We stopped by for a quick “congrats” much to Terry’s chagrin…ha ha.
And we chatted up with a former “Ms. U.S.A.” , Julie Taylor, at breakfast out one morning recently. Fun!
We’ve been making most of our meals at home (cheaper and more ‘on diet plan’) but we do enjoy the occasional meal out.
We had a lovely Mahi Mahi dinner out at Kalikala with a great view one night and music from local singer, Dan, who we also had a nice conversation with on his break.
