Our Last Front Porch Concert This Season
What a night!
SpiritLine (and the audience!) couldn’t have asked for better weather than we received for last night’s show. The temperature was absolutely perfect and not an insect in sight.
Terry did his usual great job in setting up our makeshift stage on top of our stairs and the great Rob Heath came over at 6 pm for a sound check. I love the above photo of Rob at sound check as seen through our front door. And the next photo makes me giggle because I have so much trouble with my knees that I am just trying to gingerly sit on my stool for sound check without falling!
After sound check and a few photos it was time for the audience to arrive and we had a really nice crowd. We had close to 40 as the night progressed and even our priest, Fr. Dean, arrived!
We decided to encourage social distancing and masks again because of the new ‘Delta Variant’ and I think people felt a bit safer to be in the crowd.
SpiritLine (aka myself and Terry) opened up the show with four of our own original tunes. Terry played two of his new songs (“It’s a Long Road” and “Diggin”) from his upcoming musical and I played two of my songs soon to be recorded (“The Lord is My Strength And My Song” and “Music!”)
I think our set went very well and I’m happy with the positive responses we received about them after the show.
Rob was up next and I knew that he wouldn’t disappoint. Every one of Rob’s songs tell a story and his guitar playing is phenomenal. He had us laughing and/or tearing up…depending on the song. (I HIGHLY recommend you checking out his C.D.’s online and ordering his music for your own pleasure. You will be happy you did.)
Once the headliner plays, Terry and I have the ‘best seat in the house’ as we just move over along our porch and sit in the comfort of our deck furniture to watch the performance.
Last night we actually had a hot air balloon fly right over our home. To our audience : ‘You’re welcome.’ Ha ha ha.
We made $400.00 in donations for Rob’s charity of choice, “Medicines San Frontiers”.
Even though it is hard on our bodies at this stage of our lives to put away the heavy wood of the makeshift stage and all the sound system components and instruments, etc., it is so worth it.
I’m already looking forward to doing this again next summer and we’ve even had some musicians requesting to perform with us and/or for us!
Maybe YOU can join us next year!
