One Boy at a Time

It’s always fun to have some one-on-one time for grandparents and one of the grandchildren.

So for our “O Day” we took him to the new Royal Alberta Museum.

Otto was very excited when he arrived to our house with his daddy ( who is working all these weeks at our home) and we started off the day with a craft. (More about that later).

After packing a picnic, we headed off and started the adventure in the “Kids’ Gallery” play area. It was so colourful and O had a lot of fun here trying out the many interactive exhibits. Some were shut down due to Covid but there were still many things to explore safely like the “Floating ball table”, the “Spinning chair room”, and all sorts of areas of play and learning. O loved the “Bug Room” . I didn’t. ha ha.

We explored a room with hundreds of gorgeous tapestries, saw many of the taxidermy displays from the old museum, and really enjoyed the video about how some indigenous people caught deer because it was cool…and on the floor!

I was surprised at how much stamina our six year old grandson had for the rest of the museum. He took his time looking at many many displays, asked questions, and didn’t seem in a hurry to leave. He was well behaved and such a pleasure to be around. After the museum we went for a picnic lunch then we returned O home to his other grandparents where we got to see our four year old, M, and his proud efforts at riding a bike.

We will have our day with him….tomorrow!
