A “K” Family Christmas
How far would you drive to find the “Christmas Spirit” ?
One day this season we only had to drive about an hour west and north during a blustery evening to meet up with the “K” family to find a ton of it.
I suppose this is now a part of our Christmas traditions because we have once again accepted our yearly invitation to drive out to their beautiful farm.
We pull up to find friends around a bonfire with a drone operator taking their photos.
We add our wet boots to the pile inside at the back door and rush inside to get warmed by the lovely kitchen and our friends. D and J have 6 children and we love them all. All homeschooled by J….. and D ministers to schools and to a wider audience with his blog. They used to run a Camp that brought kids closer to Christ too. These people ‘walk the talk’.
The potluck dinner was so good. There was even BEAR meat available that D caught, skinned and cooked. These folks live off the grid.
I tried a dessert recipe from Instagram and it was a fail. I mean..it tasted good but the consistency was like …pablum. It was supposed to be a peach cobbler “the easy way” with just a can of peaches and topped with a cake mix and butter but….. Bleck. FAIL. Next time : cobbler the old fashioned way with a crunchy oatmeal and sugar topping.
“ Skittle” the parrot was a big hit at the party but kitty could care less in his cosy spot. I so enjoyed our chats with family but soon it was time to go as the gang was heading out into the cold to get on a hayride to go carolling. We said our good-byes and headed back home after our wonderful visit.
Till we meet again…..
